I have an 05 M7 with 8200 miles on it with a major rebuild on it down to the crank at 5800 miles. When I grab a hold of the PTO shaft and pull in and out on it, there is a very little movement in it. Not side to side or up or down, just in and out. Is this a bad thing? Does anyone know what this may be or could it possibly lead to a problem?

i cant answer your question, but the term your looking for is thrust.
like in some automotive/diesel applications there are items called thrust bearings that minimize the lateral movement of the crankshaft. if it seems excessive, then i would be worried.

Is there such a thing as a thrust bearing on sleds? The pto has very little movement on the shaft. Sled runs perfect. Was hoping someone had a little more detail input on this. Thanks for your response.

Just to make sure, did you check the bolt on the primary to make sure it was tight, does it have the washer on it?
