? on riding w/out a hood

A buddy of mine was wondering if it is possible to ride without his hood on. Will it mess up his stator or any other electrical parts if he does it?. His sled is an 01 800 Ski-Doo Highmark X. Thanks Lee

So long as he is not filling the engine bay with snow (i.e. not riding in 3 feet of pow, just spring snow riding and he wants to keep it a little cooler) or he is not parking it in a creek, yeah, it should be OK. If he starts to get too much snow in there things might start to ice up, carbs, etc. Got some snow in my throttle cable two weeks back running without my windshield (see pic below), once I got moving fast down the trail it froze up a little and my throttle stuck 3/4 open. Just laid it on the exhaust to melt it out and was good to go.

for spring riding on the ZX chasis there is no better adjustment to than to lose the hood. Huge weight savings and everything runs better and cooler.
