???????????? on powdercoating

not trying to hyjack your ? but i have had several items anodized, it adds 0 weight costs less, and protects better. some of the stuff i have seen powder coated develops cracks and allows contaminates in. and no i dont own any anodizing equip.

I do some powder coating as a side hobby, and yes it does retain heat. It creates a thick layer of coating which is impervious to the outside elements, thus retaining heat, if nothing can get in, nothing can get out kinda theory. I have no experience with anodizing, but from what I have seen it is a thinner layer of coating. And as Lucky13 stated, it weighs nothing.
Powder coating looks and lasts a long time, but it does add ounces per part to your sled. More powdered parts, more weight. This is my opinion only just to set the record strait.

I would anodize the coolers, not powder coat if you want to do either, but since they are based on the theory of heat transfer and their location, why bother? Powder coating does add a small amount of weight, I had my entire bulkhead and tunnel powder coated, it amounted to about 3 lbs, the difference was so small that on the scale you could hardly tell. While everyone else is packing 10-15 lbs of snow around on the underside of their uncoated tunnels though, it doesn't stick to my tunnel, so people will tell you that it weighs more, but you have to see the advantages of doing it and realize that the small weight you gain in coating the parts, will save you twice as much in accumulated snow on the hill. I would only coat parts where snow accumulates also (susp, maybe the rails, bulkhead), powder coating something like your handlebars would be only for bling factor and just add weight without any performance or "on the snow" weight reduction. Just my $.02.
