??? on plugging in your Truck

Just a question. How much does it cost to plug your Truck in each night? I know it will be a lot cheaper than buying as new engine and it warms up great on the cold mornings. But I was just wondering how much current it uses. Thanks for any Info

last year i kept my backhoe plugged in all the time untill i got my first elec bill. cost about 65 for a month

What kind of truck and what kind of temps?
My 5.9 dodge is plugged into a timer and needs 4 hrs in the morning before I start it up when the temps are in the teens. It will fire right up without the plug but I do it so the cab heats up.

My fathers Ford 6.0 needs to be plugged in when temps hit the 30's. It rolls over very slow and dies a couple of times before it wakes up. When it's plugged in she fires right off.

I'd say the timer adds $15 a month to the bill, and I don't know what dad pays.

Don't know the cost but I put mine on a timer that comes on 2 hours before I leave in the morning. Love the immediate heat. 03 Dodge Ram.

The wattage and your cost of electricity varies, hard to say.

Just put a timer on it, 3-4 hr's would be lots. I plug in when it's -15c or 5 fahrenheit.

The best idea is to set up a timer (a heavy duty one) that turns on your block heater 3-4 hours before you are going to leave. Anything more than 4 hours won't get it any warmer. If I remember right it keeps my coolant about 125-130 degrees. If you don't know when you are going to want to leave have it go on for 3 then off 2 or something like that. It used to cost me about 30 bucks a month having it plugged in 10 hours before I left.

Good idea on the timer. :beer;

What started me thinking is The water temp on my truck was 110 after I plugged it in and I was thinking that it would have to cost a ton to keep it heated at that temp all night.

It’s a 04 6.0 Ford F-350

Starts up fine when I don’t plug it in but it’s been getting in the teens here so I plugged it in.
