I am thinking about gearing down down my 06' summit 1000. It has stock gearing and was wondering what is the stock gear teeth? also for those that have done it what size teeth you drop down to and and how much improvement did it do? The only mod I got on it right now is SLP can. It has a 162 track. I like to boondock and climb will gearing down affect boondocking? The reason I ask is because when I geared down my mountain max it seemed like boondocking was harder. Any advice from somebody who has a summit 1000 will be great thanks.

21/49 i believe is stock, most guys like the 20t top. i ran a 19 and i think it was a little too low.

I run 20 49 with a 174 and it Boondocks just fine, and climbs real good
I have 19/51 it boondocks fine, and climbs too

Ok I see the ideal top gear is a 20 T. What does changing a bottom gear to a higher number of teeth do for you?
