Older Timbersled Intake Question

I'm looking to shed a few pounds and let the m7 breath a bit better. I have found a good deal on a timbersled intake though the guy says it is the older model.
After wading through 11 pages of info on here (my head hurts) I still didn't find the answer I was looking for though maybe I just missed it. :o

What exactly is the difference between the older and newer intakes? It is just the vents? If so will I be okay with frog screens as I already have them on order?

Will my side panel vents and a large 2cool vent on the hood be sufficient enough to pull the hot air out or will I need more? Will I need to put a finer mesh under my hood vent to keep the finer snow out?

Also from what I have read I should be okay with just keeping an eye on the plugs to make sure she isn't too lean right?

Just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I commit to it. :)

The difference between the old and the new kits is that the intake plate on the new one has a little gasket on it to help seal better against the existing intake gasket (ridge) on the sled as well as the vents. If you call timbersled they will hook you up with the update kit. As for your current venting, you should be fine as is. The filters have prefilters that go over the filters so a little fine snow dust isnt going to hurt a thing. As for you plugs, just watch them, or get an egt guage and you will be just fine

I had a timbersled intake on my 06 M7. I used there kit, no extra venting and a speedworx pipe and the only problem was when i got the front burried in deep snow it would bogge. you do get more engine noise from the intake.

I have one on mine o5 m7. the bogging in deep snow is not the intake its the exhaust exit. i built a little plat 3" extension on front of the exhaust exit to keep snow from blocking it in the deep stuff. and no more bogging. one one pointer on mounting your ECU don't bolt it down with 2 bolts when you hit a tree on that side it flex's the plastic and breaks the casing on ECU. i learned that the expensive way
