Old Helmets

Well I'm getting a new lid this week, so now the question is what the heck does everyone do with their old helmets?

Can you just pitch it in the trash? I thought about keeping all my old lids and putting them around the garage....but I don't really wanna have to keep cleaning them.

Need ideas.

ive got my lids from when i 6 i have em around in my basement, i keep em around for doing stupid stuff

Once they served their purpose I just pitch them in the garbage. For me it was just more junk sitting around. I used to keep them as trophies of my inability to ride. :pound:

Donate them to a rental outfit, they can never have enough to go around or the sizes, style to fit everybodies needs. I just keep mine for when I introduce somebody to the sport and take them for a ride, they usually don't have one of their own and I don't want them sweating in the current ones that I have.

I've heard people say if you've had it more than a couple years cut the chin straps off and mount it on the wall. (cutting the chin straps off keeps people from accidently wearing a helmet that is no good)

--Plastic and foam breaks down. Not as protective as time goes by.

--At ANY time, once you drop if off your tailgate onto the driveway, cut the straps. It's not trustworthy.

for some reason I can believe that!

Monte I don't need to keep lids as trophies for inability....that's what the original plastics on my bike are for.
