Ok, so it's time to start my summer mods

I got a nice big old income tax return last week and I figure it's a good time to start sinking money into my 9.
As soon as my mastercard payment goes through, I'll be calling Fastrax for the '10 front end kit. I assume they can supply me with all the plastic rivets as well.
Also on my list are all engine mounts, jackshaft bearings, and with the new plastic I'll have to re-vent... has anyone tried to re-use shock tower vents off the fat front end on the update? If not I suppose I'll have to buy them too.

I've been out having alot of fun on my dirt bike, but it's time to start gearing up for my #1 passion!

Damn lol, forgot to ask the question I most needed an answer to:
The Fastrax kit VS the polaris upgrade kit part number 2876986...
Is the Fastrax kit the same as the polaris kit other than the bumper?

Carl`s price on the Poo kit, $499 USD with the less than spectacular stock bumper. Fastrax kit with a nicer bumper, $699. Just want to make sure I`m comparing apples to apples aside from the bumpers.

dan, I changed the plastic over on my 08, and from what I could see on the dealer site the 08 plastic was identical to the earlier 06-07 plastic in shape so I would think the vents should work.. the side panels arnt included in the kit so if you want the new style bolt down panels you need to order them and the aluminum closeoffs on the sterring hoop(they have the nutcerts for the fender bolts in them...best way to get them off with out damage is to grind off the rivit head from the inside then pull off the vent and tap out the rivit from behind(you can grind the head off from the front ,but you must be real careful to not nick the vent), as for Curts kit I believe it is made up from polaris parts..but not positive...

Thanks ASKSNOWRIDER, I think I am comfortable with my side panels, as I have already fashioned my own bolt on mod to them, only looking for the nose and fender update.
I`m just looking for the possibility of any differences between the Poo kit I referenced and the Fastrax kit (other than the bumper). For some reason they look different in pics, but it could just be me... lol.

THAT A BOY DAN...back to the sled work.. ;)

the FTX front end uses the same polaris p/n#. but i am 95% sure that FTX does not sell the kit WITH the 09 OEM bumper...its either JUST the plastics, or the plastics WITH the CoBe bumper...i ordered mine from FTX and it came with no 09 oem bumper, so i ordered the SKINZ one..

also, check the part number on babbittsonline too, theres has the 09 oem bumper included...just to make sure your getting what you want..

p.s. any word on the cases?? ;)

babbittsonline price WITH 09 front bumper...$409 US, (plus shipping)

http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages...1/69147/polaris-iq-new-bumperplastic-kit.aspx

you can get the CoBe front bumper when money is best, or the SKINZ...but for me the SKINZ is best priced, for the quilty...

i have the 09 front end kit on my 05 900 with skinz bumper and its been AWESOME..i have blasted pretty much everything and its mint still ;)

but i have the 09 front end on my 06 900 now as well, but using the stock 09 bumper in the mean time till i can get another SKINZ one

the wifes 06 700 has the 09 front end as well with the 09 oem front bumper, sure its not the strongest, but its been a HUGE improvement and great as well...when she breaks it..ill get a skinz one, lol...

Thanks Sean that's what I wanted to hear, my plan is the same as yours... to live with the 09 stock bumper for now and upgrade later. And thank you for the Babbits price, a little better than Carls who I usually order through! I'll have to check on shipping to beautiful western Canada.

The cases are a work in progress... Since I can\t find anyone to go biking with today maybe I'll get down to the basement and try and get them apart.

Hey DD

I'm doing the same mod as you, in addition to spindles, A arms & Skis.
I'm going with the Skinz bumper (front & rear) in addition to the plastics kit. Just got my motor back in after replacing my coolant hoses under the motor, replacing motor mount bolts w/ Grade 8 and powder coating some engine parts (pics coming soon).
I'm also going with the 07 seat support

Cool cool, I am considering doing something about the seat support and excess plastic on my tunnel as well. Sounds like your budget is a little looser than mine! haha

I've been thinking about getting the SKINZ bumper and was wondering how hard is the installation. Do you have to take the whole front end off to put it on? I ride with a Dragon that went to that bumper but he had to modify the front plastic wherethe tubes go into the front of the sled to get it to work. I don't want to tear into that until I'm ready to replace the plastics. Thanks.

P.S. I ride right at the tree line a lot becuase the snow blows down into them and its some of the best riding. So I do occasionally graze a tree here and there if you know what I mean. I would like a solid bumper that won't trash my tub if I "graze" a tree

depends on what front end you have on your 900.

is it the 09 front end, or the 05-08 "wide" front end??

if its the 09, its stupid easy...i had the nose pan off already, but i suppose you could wrestle it and install with all the plastics on..

if its the older style front end...i think you can do it the same way with the plastics on...just note that you CANNOT use an slp intake with it, must be FNI, Timbersled, or stock intake WITH ANY aftermarket bumpers..

its super easy on ANY bumper install and well worth it bud..

go for it ;)

Stock 05 front end. I had it apart last year when I did the rad delete and it doesn't look like it would be too hard to do. I'm running the stock intake and don't plan on changing it.

Vents

The older vents will work but not the best fit on the curved part. I did this on my 05 with the 09 front end on it.Also on the clutch side it is blocked off by the clutch cover mount. So better off getting the ones for the 09 front shock towers.

This is what I hear you want so do I ----

Looks like most of you have done the home work

So -- I want the Skinz bumper and the 09 Plastic.

I could buy the 409.00 kit from Babbits and the 199.00 bumper but can't I just buy the Plastic without the bumper ?

Or do they price the individual pieces to high you can't afford to buy them.

What if you break the plastic can you buy it a piece at a time ?

Individual Part Numbers anyone for just the needed Plastic ??

the first kit i bought was from him W/O the 09 bumper...the next kits i bought WITH the bumper cause i couldnt afford the skinz ones..

give curt a call and report back for others to know :beer;

Sent Tricksleds an Email

CC-ed GuidoXP on the inquiry.

Hope this works out if I could get the plastic for 225- 250.00 per sled I will be
styl' in next year.

Of course I don't know how the DooBoys will react if the Monster Sled is pretty er than there rides.

Minimum it will be on the Old Ladies 2006 600HO LOL.

When I know more so will you -------------:ranger:
