so.... 2011 pro rding it another year (at least)
C3 belt drive or extended chaincase for more tunnel clearance/better attack angle ????
they're close in price just got me thinking

Are you asking a question or just telling us you are going with one or the other? I wanted a c3 for my 2011 Pro but they didn't have the Pro kit yet.

I'm hearing that that you will be able to retro fit your 11-12 Pro with belt drive parts by January.

From whom, you ask?
We shall see.

But that won't give him any more tunnel clearance and I think he was asking which option you be better for doing that. Unfortunately I don't have an opinion on that for him.

--If its between the C3 belt drive or the extended chaincase, The extended chaincase is a much better option.

--With the extended chaincase, you have alot more track options. Belt drive is basically weight loss and bling.

-- 155x3 Camo ,155x2.5, or 2.6 PC would be really great

--This all assumes the engine is going to hold up:face-icon-small-sho

--For $375 you may get some piece of mind with a piston kit and turn up your oil pump

yeah i'm asking where the $ would be better spent ?
i've been thinking about the C3 belt kit or waiting to see if a 13 retro kit will be an option
but then i got thinking for the same $ i could do the extended chain case giving more clearance and better attack angle equaling better performing sled ?
the pro seem like it gets up on the snow really well already so maybe it wouldn't be much improvment?

i don't really have a track change planned but that would be a perk of the extended case i don't know i'm running out of snow :face-icon-small-sad
thinking about summer mods for next year

Don't do the D+R. It changes the handling a lot. And if your not doing 3 inch track its not Worth the 900$. Spend the money on shocks

Buddy of mine had several rides on the 13. He thought the belt drive made a noticeable improvement in both how quick the sled gained RPM and in improving the handling. He thought that the lighter weight belt had less gyro effect and made the sled that much faster side to side. Last, he said the 13 felt like it had more power and the Polaris guys told him the sled he was riding(early season) had a 2012 spec engine. So this is hear say to me and I am posting it on the web so take it for what it's worth but I do trust this guys opinion. I think the C3 belt drive is better than the Poo belt drive. I like that it has a tensioner and you can change gears cheap and easy.

technically speaking..if C-3's pulleys fit the 11-12 shafts..there is no reason they wont fit the 13 either...thus allowing easy gearing changes...just a thought....

Yes, that's correct, but then you will need an tensioner, something the 13 is missing, but the beltdrive from C3 has.

nope..just when changing ratio you need to move the same amount of teeth(remove 2 on the top/add 2 on the lower) or change belt length(goodyear makes a bunch of different length belts...)just need to match up what your wanting(stock belt/pulleys should also be easy to sell since anyone with a 11 or 12 could use them to belt drive their sled as well)..but it looks like the belt drive free's up enough rotational masss that as it comes from polaris, it acts like its both geared lower and runs more mph up top..so should be a big advantage...

ak
i heard a rummor that polaris went with a unique pitch for the belt/gear tooth cog spacing
is that true?
its probably BS but made me wonder
thanks

not that I have heard..and looking at the pics of it, it looks like the standard goodyear belts that we have used on equipment for years..(I doubt polaris would have a custom belt made, when an off the shelf belt is sitting there)..

good!
yeah i thought it was a strange idea
funny part is i heard it from my skidoo buddy i guess jealousy will make folks say stange things :face-icon-small-win ha ha
