oil pump ratio

My pro cost me very little in oil last year. So decided to check what ratio it's putting out. Marked the bottle, rode 50 miles last sat, and it took 7 gal gas and 16 oz oil. So my public school math tells me that's 56:1. I had also put 16oz into a full tank of gas and didn't notice any smoking. My oil pump lever looks like it's on the lean side of the mark. Plan to adj. it richer soon so the brgs will also get more oil. In other posts noone knew what ratio the pump was putting out, just that they weren't using much. Hope this helps. Oh, and my friends new m8 proride handled pretty good and got up on the snow well. We didn't get off road but the road was about 3' deep. This sled is gonna be good, it looks like.

what i've found on mine is on deep days when i'm in the throttle a lot i'm getting about 30-40:1 on set up days its been close to 60:1 so since the first few rides i've been adding oil to the tank according to the conditions. oil injection sucks, if the pro didn't need it for the bearings i'd be running straight premix. just another thing to go bad and sieze up your topend, and on the pro the bottom also. the pro would be another 5-10 pounds lighter without it when you consider the oil your carrying and the injection system itself...

I was in the throttle alot this day, as most every rode we were on, we broke trail. So sounds like my pump may be set leaner than yours? Put 900 mi on this sled last year, and never did add any oil to the tank, no problems yet but now I'm more concered.

I would be very concerned if I never emptied out my oil tank in 900 miles!!! I'd check for a air bubble in the oil feed line to the pump too. Many have reported that this air bubble will cause it to use very little oil

Mine has 900 plus miles on it also and seemed to run fine and everything looked good when I changed the head. But while I was in there I turned mine up a hair.I will try it and post back.

I'll echo what PalousePoo said. Ran the break-in oil in the first tank but never added oil to the gasoline tank after. Used about 1 1/4 gal of oil in about 750 miles last year (in the oil tank). It seemed to be using a scary low amount oil from ride to ride. I kept in touch with my dealer and he said this was consistant with what he was hearing and I should be alright. We talked about the oil line TSB and went over the lines for air bubbles and found none. For fun I wished I'd have checked the ratio by doing the math but never did.

This year I've turned my adjustment up a little, slightly over one turn. And I will be penciling out the ratio a couple times.

PalousePoo could a guy catch a ride with your group if he wanted to see some of that area? Not a real far drive for me.

I bought a copy of the shop manual for my Assault. I went by the book in how to check the oil pump setting. I had to adjust it 3 1/2 turns to get it into spec for what the manual says.
