Oil pump check valve

Has anyone had a problem with the oil check valves on the oil lines? My 13 keeps sticking the mag side piston, twice now in three rides but when sled sits for a while (like 2 weeks) it smokes like crazy when I start it, let it warm up then I run it down the road and 1-2 miles it grabs the mag piston, it's not lean crank seal is good the pto piston is covered with oil but mag piston looks dry (over the summer when I first get it out for winter and started it it leaves a puddle of strait oil out pipe two feet around until it burners it out) I figured it would be ok it would just give the engine extra oil before I go ride but for some reason it seems to not be giving the mag side enough oil has any one had problems like this?

oil check valve

If I were you I would replace them all!

In september '14 I was starting my sled the first time that year. It pulled over like it was 10 degrees. I did get it started but hydrolocked the pto side with oil and cracked the head and pent the rod. I send the motor to IndyDan and he fixed it.
He said it was rare but does happen. One of the check valves leaks. Call him and ask about it.

Good Luck Tom

i had a lot of oil in my pipe from sitting this summer. i called my dealer mechanic and he said it was pretty much normal. i wonder if you may have a injector going out?

I don't think it's an injector the engine runs great runs strong with no issues it will just all the sudden lock up. It did this last season I put a new piston in it and it sat all summer fired it up this winter smoked like crazy and blew raw oil out the silencer (around a 1/2 quart) it burned out quit smoking run fine I took it out the first ride this year put 60 miles on it run flawless two weeks later I went unloaded in the same place fired it up smokes pretty good for a min then cleared out, jumped on made it 1-2 miles and locked up pulled it apart and pto side has oil everywhere no marks and looks perfect rich if anything (looking at piston wash) both Pistons had the same wash also. But mag piston and crank had virtually no oil visible and dry looking

Ya that's the plan ordered all new check valves gonna put them in spin the pump on the bench and verify all ports are oiling before I put it back together

Update

Seems the check valves were ok the problem ended up being my oil tank cap I had just installed the ski doo cap that's supposed to be better than the stocker but with it installed I get zero oil flow to my oil pump open the cap and the oil flows down the line to the pump, I wonder if anyone else had issues with this cap

The oil cap sounds like a very unlikely cause for your issues. I don't think the cap would have a preference as to which side of the engine it didn't like. The cap is the furthest component upstream in the oil system. Just my thoughts. In addition, I think there's a crap ton of guys running the BRP oil tank cap with no issues. Bubble in an oil line possibly?

My cap was fully non fuctional zero venting, like I explained above with the cap installed I could get zero oil flow out of my oil line crack open the cap oil flow was wide open. I drilled my stock cap new Pistons runs like a champ now and I use a lot more oil than before. Like I said I hope I just got a junk cap and nobody else has an issue. and I believe the mag side just run out of oil first I think the pto side would have eventually did it too. I pulled the engine and tank and pulled the oil pump off the engine and run the pump with my air gun and it would barely pump anything. Traced it back to the cap with cap off pump pumped oil like crazy, with cap on after 30 seconds no oil would pump out agin. After 2 back to back engine failures and now zero problems I am possative what my problem was

Very methodical and persistent way to find the root cause...I salute your tenacity!

Did you play with the BRP cap to try and find an issue with it? Wonder if the duck bill was sealed off / never had a slit in it?.........That would be the root of the root cause, and good to know for the dudes running that cap.

I sucked my doo cap before installation to make sure the duck was breathing.

Wow, I'm glad that I've been following the threads regarding these caps, because if I'd have just dropped in here and read that statement without knowing what he was talking about, I would have been like "What!!??" LOL
