Oil Pump Adjustment?

I see 3 marks on the throttle lever, two larger marks on the ends and a small mark in the middle, is that correct? When I pulled off the carbs the lever would open past the top scribe mark on the lever. I tried to adjust it to line up exactly when at WOT. I'm a little confused about the adjustment process. It seems like in order to get the top index mark to line up with the mark on the pump body when at WOT there needs to be slack in the oil pump cable, is this correct? Just off idle the oil pump cable is taut but not pulling up on the oil pump lever. Any help would be appreciated. The picture below is how it is currently adjusted. At WOT the top scribe mark on the lever lines up with the scribe mark on the pump body.

I have never liked any slack in the oil cable. Been running my with ZERO slack. The pump arms moves as soon as I move the throttle!! 3000 miles like this no problems contributed to oil!!

Ok, when I adjust the slack out the WOT mark will not line up with the oil pump boss mark. Any way around this?

I do run some slack on my cable, but not much. The slack is taken up as soon as I'm off my throttle over-ride switch. How much slack you have or don't have is not a good way to adjust the oil anyway. My oil usage figures out at about 40/1 and varys a little with each tank. You may have to make several small adjustments to get there. A quart of oil to 10 gallons of gas is very safe.
