OIL PUMP 09 DRAGON

Has anyone had to replace the oil pump on there 09 800 Dragon? I am going to get a accurate fuel to oil usage this weekend. It has a Carl's Cycle 860 kit in it and I know they turned it up more than stock but my last trip out I had it foul a plug and the oil usage seemed more than normal. Have 2300 miles on the sled and about 900 on the 860 kit just wondering if anyone had problems with the there oil pump and if so did it go out over time or all at once. Thanks for any input.

I just replaced mine, it started to leak. When they fail they can run on max even if adjusted properly. To replace the pump you must pull the engine but it can be adjusted installed in the sled once you pull the air box and you can pull the throttle bodies to make it easier. before you pull the motor to replace the pump do the calculations, also go and check with a mirror to make sure the pump calibration marks are properly aligned.

Thanks for the info. This weekend I should be able to get a more accurate oil to fuel ratio. I know when they go bad that they start using more oil and eventually go to full open. Just hoping it is not failing because of a trip coming up,would be the second time it was left home on this trip, first time because of Polaris and there fine engineering on the cylinders. If it is the oil pump I should have time to get it replaced just not looking forward to doing it :(

No problem man! if you do have to change the pump be sure to inject all of the lines with a syringe during assembly so there are no air bubbles in the system. I also suggest replacing all of the lines as they get brittle and wont reseal properly on the new pump. Also bleed the feed line entering the pump by backing off the 10mm right in the center of the pump, sometimes you have to put your hand around the reservoir and blow into it to get the oil to flow.

If you have any questions post up or PM me, as i said i just did mine.

GOODLUCK!
