Fitting

How did you realize it had happend without running it long enough to ruin the motor?

Interesting approach to get at it from the bottom. How many rivets did you have to drill out to get access like that?

Oil got on my belt and threw a cord. Thats when I pulled over and saw oil everwhere and said wtf... Saw the main feed just dangling there, got towed out. I think the only thing that saved me might have been all the oil I had mixed in the fuel for the break in of the new engine.

Its only 14 rivets and you have to heat some glue. The heating of the glue was the hardest part but way easier then pulling the engine! I got the idea from somebody on here. They said 10 rivets + 10 min but thats a bit false. It took me about 20 min to get the plate off.

I had the same thing happen on my '12. Luckily my motor was warrantied. There was very little knurling on the fitting.

Mine has warranty but unfortunately my local dealer is garbage and my go to dealer is over five hours away. Do you remember what they did to fix yours? New oil pump?

green 680 locktite sleeve retainer.twist it to clock it right . done ! the temp it needs to release is extremely high itll never come out..

Depending in how loose it is, you can swage it slightly by finding the correct size pin punch and tapping into the ID of the fitting, which will expand it slightly being brass. Then reinstall it into the oil pump with the green Loctite or without should not mater once the fit is correct.

Thats the way id like to fix it but the fitting is a 90 degree elbow. Might give that green loctite a try!

Thanks everyone!

Being it is a 90 you could expand it with a quality screw or a bolt of the correct size for the fitting (do not use a cheap hardware grade because if you twist it off trying to expand it your are buying a new pump). Use some oil and it will expand it and be easily removable. The small radial helix marks will not effect the flow enough to matter. Either method will be an effective repair.
