Oil leaking out of rave cover

I just had a new top end done on my 04 800 HO. After the first ride I checked it over at home. I noticed oil coming out of the little hole on the side of the rave valve cap on PTO side. What does this indicate? A friend said it may indicate a bad ring?

leaking rad valve

I did a new top end on my bb 600ho moter And after couple of rides I had the bolts start to come a little lose so I retorged them and all is good now also did you put a new gasket on our use the old one could maybe be the gasket I have no oil leak now

Yep, what eddy said, or the little gasket behind the RAVE is torn and needs to be replaced. That's what happened to mine.

Doubtful it is rings. Some carbon builds up on the RAVE slides that go into the cylinders, and this carbon then washes into the hole for the pressure to the RAVE, from here it leaks down into a little cavity under the RAVE and then weeps out the hole at the bottom. Take the RAVE off and have a look, could be a torn or leaking bellows that didn't get sealed perfectly on the rebuild (if they did them then).

Hope that helps,
