Oil leak 05' rmk 900

Over the summer my 900 started leaking oil, right from the belly pan onto the floor. Not a ton of oil but enough to soak the cardboard and then some. I brought it into the shop and they told me it was a normal thing with thses sleds and that there is a blow off valve that every once in awhile blows off the excess oil. It is not from the reservoir as the oil is slightly used and does not have the sweet smell. it's just a little dark and seems to be dripping from the clutch side belly pan. Is this something I should worry about or have you guys heard about this?

it was most likely coming from the foam under the hood. for the airbox

its either built up from overfilling your oil resivoir, OR most likely from your VES (exhaust valves) and yeh there is a solenoid that blows used oil from your engine through your valves and out through the drain hose which is on your clutch side.

the hose is just behing your clutch, you can follow it down..

i would just keep an eye on it, nothing to worry about unless its extremely bad..

Oh..you might want to check your oil lines just incase if you never have...AND the oil line that goes off the side of your oil bottle-down between your cylinders and to a "y" fitting just above your oil pump, into your crankcase..some guys had this leak oil..but its unlikely..

just my .02

oil leak

my 05' 900 has developed a small leak as well but it it unburnt oil coming form the bottom bolt on the oil pump, removed the pump and replaced the o ring, applied gasket maker around edges and also to the bolt, just slowed it down....lol:mad::beer;

also, that hose from the solenoid i replaced with a longer hose so it can dump chit OUTSIDE of my sled!:eek:wtf poo

Or your chaincase cover is leaking oil out. they used a plastic cover on those to try to lighten up the sled. It gets warped from heat and then slowly leak oil. Might check that too.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. It wasn't the chain case that I know for sure I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being fed a line..... I'll check the lines again and make sure they are all where they need to be.
