OIL IN THE ANTIFREEZE WTF??? NOW WHAT

NEVER give a beginner the oil bottle and tell them to top off the oil......... So i now have oil in the antifreeze bottle and didnt know till the next day so its been ran for 50 miles or so. Im going to flush the cooling system, but there is one problem... how do i cut the oil? hot water doesnt do it and antifreeze wont cut it either the oil just sticks to the side of the hoses and stays there. does anyone know of anything that is safe to run through the cooling lines with out messing up seals or the lines themselves??? and any tips on flushing would be nice too. thanks

How much oil was added to the coolant bottle? Are you positive oil was added and that this isn't a result of a defective water pump seal?

Might be a candidate for one of those cheesy automotive coolant flush kits with the garden hose deal. I'd probably remove the t-stat first.

Well, at least you should be glad he didnt put antifreeze in the oil tank!
A guy I know did this on his 03 rmk 700, he lost one top end(pistons, cyls, head) beacuse of it....changed that out with a new one WITHOUT bothering to find the reason of failure.:face-icon-small-con
Went for the first ride on his fresh top end and burned down the whole engine, crank and top end....

Lets just say, he wasnt to happy when I told him what had cost him a fortune in engine parts...and yes he is not the most skilled mechanic!:face-icon-small-coo

well no im not sure oil was put in there but thats what i was hoping for..... so i dont know at this point. but , any suggestions on what i should use to cut the oil like i said before it just sticks to the sides of the cooling lines like glue.thanks

how would oil get in it if the waterpump seal went? does not make sense. I would thing the oil should be on top. I always use shout on cars when the cooling system gets oil in it when the cooler starts to leak. if you are concerned drain it and then put shout and water in it run it get is hot and then drain it. then you will probably want to pull off a hose and flush it out with water

so i took my clear flush hose that i am using that had the, white oil/antifreeze mixture, and tried putting a some dawn dish soap in it with hot water and swished it around in there for about a min and dumped it out and then ran some water through it and did this same procedure 3 or 4 times and it did take some of the oil/antifreeze substance that is sticking to the tube away, but there is still alot in there and its not wanting to come out....... carb cleaner does the trick but will this hurt any seals??? or does anyone know of anything else that will work?? thanks for the input thus far.

Well, the shout and the spray and wash have worked the best yet. they almost got all of it out of my flush hose but there is still a film in there maybe the heat has something do with this?? i used HOT water form the tap i burned my self several times but im sure water temp on the engine will get hotter than my water heater will.. any elaboration on this.. more suggestions??? come on im almost out of the woods! thanks guys this is an awesome resource.

flushing coolant system

I am a hd mechanic by trade and i have used liquid dish washer detergent on equipment with oil in the coolant system. Fantastic cleaner also cuts the slim well. Good luck.

What lubricates the water pump drive gear? Injection oil.
What seperates the lubricant from the impeller that pumps the antifreeze? A seal behind the impeller.

Behind the seal it's job is to keep the oil and in front of the seal it's job is to keep the antifreeze. Definately not a common type of failure but never the less, possible and happens. I've seen it before.
