Oil/ fuel line grommets

Does anyone have a method to make the grommets last longer before leaking? I swear it's only been 3yrs since I changed my inj. oil grommet and appears to be seeping again. I'm thinking some quality sealant like Yamabond on OD of grommet & fitting.
Am I correct on installing grommet into tank and then fitting into grommet? I welcome any feedback.
