Im pondering this idea and the one about cutting the outer , back half of the ski off.
I will have a HCR this year and might be riding at home in the flats this year due to damaged knee. IF , i do get the the mtns the wide hcr stance is going to make it harder to wrangle . What if a guy modded the ski saddle on a simmons so the ski was moved much more to the center , about 2.5 inches? The weight will be on the outside skag i know and trail handling will suffer but i dont care ,these skis would be for mtn riding only.

It would be an interesting experiment. I would suggest to make the saddles pretty stout especially to the inside where the inside runner could have more leverage.

I had a similar thought process as you. I found a pair of simmons gen 2 skis used that I decided to modify. I cut the outside wing (2") off the skis and left the inside wing. Shouldn't change the weigh distribution on the skags but should make the pivot point distance less. I got the idea from a pair of Ski-Doo skis I had on my 03" ZX summit 800. I won't recommend this modification to anyone because I haven't tested it yet.
