Is it safe to use gas under 91 octane in the Yamaha apex's?

What year? The new ones with power steering and the EXUP I would run 91.
I ran mostly 85 octane in my stock Apex and RX1 Mtn for a combined ~10k miles at elevation. I tried a few tanks of 91 and could not tell a difference, so I just ran 85 from then on.
