Any one else feel that there grips lack heat output. I tested the elements and they are ok. At idle voltage at the switch is 14 volts ,as soon as rpms are picked up voltage drops to 8/9 volts. I just bought this sled and is still under warranty. Just wondering if this is an issue with other m8 sleds. Can this be fixed our is this a problem that arctic cat as not taken care of.

This has been an issue with Cat for the last 15-20 years. I have yet to own a sled that has had functional hand warmers. I remember back in the day our 1989 Cougar warmers worked great. They have been POS on any other sled I have owned. They say go with RSI warmers??

Take some spray expanding foam and spray it up into the end of the handle bars, it fills in the tube then insulates and holds the heat in better.

If I can go along and not turn them off accidentally because the switch is so easy to bump, I find that I end up having to turn them down anyway.

i did the rsi's as well as the foam inside. they get so warm it re flows the rsi grip glue and the grips start moving on me.....

I did the RSIs as well and it helped alot. By the way, I saw in Boondocker's ad in a modstock mag they have covers that go on the handwarmer switches and the kill switch that makes them recessed. I ordered them the other day and will give a report as to how they work. They sure look like the ticket from the pics though

and need a solution...mm

So some work and others dont. I rode a 05 m7 that had the same problem and after 3 stators and a full season of warranty work i gave up. This one will go in for warranty repair . can it be repaired ? i can dream. How hard can it be to design an ignition system with enough out put to run all the functions at the same time. spray foam should help, ill give it a try.

was out yesterday with buddies. One m8 had chit heat in the bars all other m8's and m1000 worked great. My m1000 has those covers on switch and they work great. takes a few minutes to install. wash dry and put on glue and parts. they are still on after first ride in deep powder. while worth the loot.:D

Looking at the different areas that people are posting as crappy or decent hand warmers I can see there is a pattern. Those far north or east of the rockies are commonly thinking their warmers are crap, this is most likely do to very cold conditions usually below 0 and very little terrain to have active body movement.

While those in the west usually have around 0 or above temps and actively ride their sleds, due to terrain.

I have yet to turn my warmers on the highest settings and always find they get too hot. was the same with every sled I have ridden. Although the only time you sit down is at the end of the day when you are whooped and just trying to get back to the truck.

I have a 02 mountain cat 800 and I thought my hand warmers were "crap".
Well I live in minnesota and its always below 0 in the winter time, I did some reading and took it to the mechanic.
My hand warmers just don't work well when it is really cold outside.
I am gonna try the spray foam thing and see if that makes any difference.
