I was wondering if anyone was running a drop in kit or a 827 with the ptec. I just put in a 827 and had 380 main jets. It ran just a little hot. Put in a 370 and it sputtered ran ****ty. I was wondering if anyone else is running any of Kelseys mods on a 06 engine and what they were jetted at? Any info would be appriciated.

827

I'm running 380 mains in mine runs fine. I'm Washington and ride 5000' and up to 8000' or so whatever Halfway and McCall are. Did my kit 3 yrs ago and I asked same ? some guys ran 350-360 while others ran 380-390. I tried 370 but was running too hot. running about 16.9 - 17.6 grams in clutch. Hope my babbling helps.

I have 380's in and egt's are just on the hot side. Is that what you mean by running hot. I am going to try going to 370's once i work up the confidence. I am running 14g pin wieght in Mccall area and am only pulling ~7800 on clicker 1 8200 down hill on clicker 4. Did your engine pull those rpm's from start or were you pulling more and added weight? Thanks for your time.

I have 15.9 pin weight in now and in clicker 3 pulling 8200 rpm.egts run 1205-1210 @ wot. Plug color also right on. Thought about 370 mains but it runs fine where its at the 3 yrs

Jets

If it ran hot with 380 (for your machine) why would you not increase size to 400 or 420? 370 should make it way to lean and from your description that is exactly what happened!

On my 06 827 i was running 420's and it ran great never skipped a beat. Sled had K&N filters, hps can, and his porting. Riding 3k- 6k. Team clutch made the biggest difference in performance.

Tons and tons of information on these engines along with the maker thinks i should try going down....up...ect. I have heard that 360 make this engine come to life in a whole new way. My 380's are fine....but why do all this work and not tune it to it's full potential. If I go a size down and it is running way hot I will just shut down and change back. I was just currious since my engine is a ptec only made in 06 if anyone else has gone down lower. My ptec has stock 440 mains and the prror engines ran 400's stock. On dootalk a couple guys are running lower and tell me they were scared too but it was a whole new machine. Thanks for everyones input.

Kinney why you running the HPS can. Have you tried putting the stock one back on? I have read nothing good about the hps on a ported motor. It is an awsome can stock i had it but i tried it with this engine and it ran ****ty the hole restriction at the very end wasn't letting enough air out, for my engine. I am running a skinz superq and it is much better. Just my $.02 i wish i could have ran my hps for I loved it stock. I was also wondering if you got the team tied clutch and wondering if you bought it from kelsey?

I had a skinz ultra q and didn't like it it was too quiet! First thing i did when i bought it was gut the air box and throw K&N airfilters on it. Some people claim "they dont run with the pod filters" well i beg to differ..... I also pulled the thermostat out and plugged the line with a piece of pvc end cap. This allows the coolant to flow throughout the cooler and allow the water temps to stay cooler. I had a dynamoe Joes clutch on it and it did not perform like my buddies tss04 team clutch so i ordered a team tss04 and it was a whole new machine. That motor really loves 8300- 8500 atleast mine did. I rode it for about 700 miles and it never skipped a beat. I sold it a couple of months ago.

I have about 250 miles on my 827. I am running 14.6-1 domes. I have it jetted at 360s. The plugs are usually super white color, But the piston wash is a tad rich I think. It feels rich in the mid, has a dirty sound to it. When it cleans out. Which takes a half second. Wow It screams. I also have a super Q can.

I am just fighting clutching now. I am running 14.5 160/380 spring and DJ helix. I pull great on the trail. I pull 8200 in the powder, but it will bog down to about 7600. Which kills it. I am working with dj right now. He has me checking a bunch of things. I talked with kelsey and he told me to put the 44 helix back in. That didnt change anything. I am thinking about going to the team tied clutch and kelseys mountain helix. I need to talk to him about it. Has anyone ran his tied helix on there rev?

You cant go by plug color on this engine. You need to bore scope it in the field. Good luck.

Kelsey worked with team to develop that spring. As soon as i get my nos kit sold i will be going with one from him. Nothing but good reviews on the team tied. Kelsey told me the same thing about the scope, i need to buy one but first i need to find some good pic at what i am looking for because i have no clue what piston wash looks rich lean ect. Anyone have any help? Place to go, maybe pic ect.
