I have recently bought an 06 apex and i was wondering how to tell if it has the handlebar updates and as well as any other required updates? I am new to yamaha and these are probably simple answers but thought i would ask anyway. Thanks for any answers.

They changed the bars and mountain strap after 06. also added a sheld under the rear portion of the tunnel to protect the track. The bars are about 1 1/4 inch taller, and the strap is much shorter. My dealer added the shield for free and charged me 35 bucks for the new bars and strap. this included grips with handwarmers that actually work. These are the only updates I know of... might have been some more technical ones I didn't hear about.
The 07 update did not work that well. It was a little better than the 06 but not by much. Some guys over on TY discovered if you take the bottom half of the 07 update, wiring in series minus the bars (lower wiring harness) and then take your 06 bars and plug them into the lower 07 wiring harness you can burn your hands off. Check out the posts over there just to make sure how they ran it.
