o5 m7?

i have a o5 m7. how hard is it to put in a m8 motor in my chassis. mine has a boondocker turbo and i would really like that motor instead of mine on boost.

I have the same question. I don't know if I want to just get a M-8 sled and swap my turbo to it or put a 8 motor into my 7. But I am tired of updating the turbo system on my 7.

Mmmm

Ok you can buy an m8 motor for about 3500 efi 1200 wiring 300.

You can buy an 09 for around 9k
07 around 5500 and an 08 for 6500

Then take the motor out and put in a M7

sell you M7 for around 4K

I would buy an M8 move turbo over and sell m7 cost maybe 3k.

Are you wanting the m8 for the displacement purely or electrical problems with the 7? the bottom end is better but i thought the m7 would hang with a m8 at pound for pound. If you were to swap why not make it worth your time and slap in a m1000. is it cost effective? no probably not, only if you can get a deal on a complete engine, ecu. d&d sells a kit to put the 1000 in a older model. if you want just bigger displacement you can always get a big bore with stock cat m8 pistons. and should out perform a stock m8 engine. but in the end it would probably be easier to just upgrade... here is a link to a m1000 in a m7.

m8

the main reason would be for the electrical and the reliabilty. my kit is a race gas but set up to run pump gas. i thought i would be nice to put in a m8 motor then convert back to race gas to get the ponys.

I've seen various fixes for the the m7's problems but i think the main thing to look at is the difference in stators from the m7-m8. the m7 is around 190 watts and the m8 is 270 i think. so i think the true way to go about it is to rewind the stator for more output. you can add a thicker gauge wire that would lead to more amperage for the system. or you can simply use the same gauge and add more turns on each poles that would allow more wattage generated. hopefully someone will chime in on ideas or knowledge on having a high output stator and if there are any side effects on the system.

Been running my bb 05 m8 with turbo side by side with 07 m8 turbo with the same turbo kit and my bb kicks it's azz. Something to think about. Haven't had 1 problem with sled , kit or turbo.

Best bet would be to talk to product tester and have him give you his wiring solution and based on who's kit you currently have you might just have to change the fuel pump and wiring and be on your way. as for the stator i know on MY current sled that it is in a weaken state and has been having trouble with my gauges no matter how i wire them. so instead of replacing it with a stock one i will have it rewound with a little power boost. and then go with shains setup, as i think this would be the ultimate solution.
