O4 800 Broken Crank

So last May my sled started running bad then began rattle. I figured it was the PTO bearing. Pulled it apart to find that the crank was completely broken. PTO bearing and center bearing were both shot. Has anyone else has had a crank break. I'm wondering if i have a case problem or if it was just a fatigue break from the vibration. Also wondering the best source for a new/reman crank. skidoo seems like a good option but have heard good things about Seadoo Clinic as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Get ahold of sledheadracing aka bigjohn. That would be my first step. Alot more variables to why that could of happened and what needs to be done so it doesn't happen again. Good luck

Not trying to be a richard here...this happened last may, and you're just now getting to this cuz why???? not very pro active:doh:

Now that that's outta the way, X2 on bj...He has very low mile good/used cranks on the shelf trued and packed with grease and all seals for $295 shipped or has fresh remaned BRP cranks. Either of the two are a good option, just comes down to your budget. Seadoo clinic, IMHO you might as well slam your richard in a car door...LOL

I was hoping it would fix itself.... Have had bad luck with this sled and was really discussed with it last spring. ----------->For Sale 04 rev with cosmetic damage motor runs good... Yea right<----------- Got burned on this one. just getting around to trying to put the pieces put back together. Thanks for the info have heard different things about Seadoo clinis think ill stay away from it. BRP seems like a good option but local dealer says he has to put it in for warranty. I think ill give BIg John a call. I havent heard anything bad about him. Any of you guys use weisco, kimpes or spi pistons. Skidoo originals seem kind of spendy. Thanks for the advice. Appreciate all the help.

I have used weisco pistons in my last 2 rebuilds and nothing wrong with them.

Is there a reason why you guys are against sea-doo clinic? I've been running a full rebuild from them since last year and seems great. I went with the oem style crank, not their sealed "fatty" bearings btw.

They had great customer service and sent me everything needed. It was all packaged well and they have a good core refund. Nothing wrong with sea-doo clinic if you ask me. No advise on their fatty bearings though

Because he works for BJ......

Boy nothin gets by you, does it? Yeah, I doo work for bj...so how does that relate to my crappy crank I bought from seadoo clinic that failed at 180 due to cheap bearings????:deadhorse:

My main point is that a BRP rebuilt crank is the best possible option. Who it's purchased from, I could care less since I'm not the one selling it. Order it form Kelsey at RKT or walk into your local dealer an buy it for all I care, just know it's not going to come trued, greased or with seals and will have a sales tax on top of that.

the fatty was the crank I went with, so that's all I can comment on. After that ordeal I'd just assume stick with brp. Seadoo clinic took care of it and warranteed the crank since it was within the year, but I'm lucky to get 500 miles on in a year. So had this crank got me through that one last trip (the trip it failed on) and into the next season, I would have been SOL and that loss woulda been on my dime.

I got a crank through BJ- Fresh BRP rebuilt, trued, greased and with seals for $100 less than I paid for the seadoo crank.
