O2 readings? What should I be looking for?

It depends on the fuel you are running. Pump gas I would stay around 11.5 at full throttle, higher octane race gas you can lean it out more and get away with 12.5 at full throttle. If you are just starting to tune I would get a knock box so it will let you know if you are getting any detination.

Higher octane allows higher O2 readings?

So are you saying that if you are running higher octane like 110; 112 or 116 that it allows you to have higher O2 readings without detonation?

I understand that higher octane allows for more boost or higher compression without detonation but I do not understand the connection to the O2 reading.

What is the O2 reading telling you?

I used to have EGT's on my high performance two stroke and I understand that that is an exhaust temperature reading.

I am a person that needs to understand how things work so that I will be able to use it to my advantage.

Thank you for explaing some of these things to me.

dont think running higher oct will allow you to run leaner i know with watermeth or alcohol you can run leaner # but i dont think higher oct.for most boosted application 11.5-12.5 is the recommended place to run your sled for safety the 11.5 is better more fuel helps with cooling.its fine to have your sled idle at 14 then come down from there as you apply the throttle till wot you want 11.5-12.5

I see numbers up to 17, briefly, under full throttle on my stage 2 mcx. is that too high? it only lasts a second, then drops to 13.

you will get some strange reading at times when you pin the throttle just takes a second for the gauge to catch up if you slowly increase throttle to wot you should see a normal steady climb from about 14.5-12.5 or 11.5.under higher boost loads. i would be shooting for 11.5 because the higher the boost the more heat you are making more fuel help to bring cylinder temps down.the 17 a/f you are getting is probably because your getting a big draw of air before the fuel increases for a split second ,as you pin the throttle, but its nothing to worry about.the other thing is you should recalibrate your a/f sensor fairly often i do it once a week or if you get a big temp change.
