o rings

head o rings not sure but think may be leaking very slowly into the cylinder. noticed that the coolant bottle appears to be lower after sitting this summer. not sure if there is a way to check without tearing into it. my other guess was maybe it didnt bleed properly and over the summer it burped. dont know how it could have done that just sitting there but i dont want to tear into it if anybody else can give me a better idea

Just do a pressure test... leave it on over night...

by morning you will know!!

ok. how do you pressure test a sled?

Just like u pressure test a car..

With a pressure tester... found at aka NAPA..!!


Remove radatior cap.. tester goes on there!

Will probably need a "small cap" adapter to fit your sled coolant bottle,be careful of the threads.

system should hold 13psi.

Have you started the sled yet? If so, did it seem to steam real bad out of the exhaust? How many miles are on it? Have you had the head off before?

If you haven't started it yet, you could try pulling the engine over a couple times with the kill switch on so it can't fire and then pull the plugs and look for coolant on the plugs. I've done this before on suspected coolant leaking into engines.

i have started it. its on the lift right now with the suspension pulled out of it. i had the head off last year when i installed the low compression head. cylinders appear a little moist to me but didnt see a bunch of steam when i started it at all. im gonna do a pressure check this weekend and then hopefully ill know for sure. i hate these stupid o rings they are a pain i had one set come out of their little groove when i put the head on it bumped it just enough to move it out of the groove and it pinched and leaked out of the cylinder on the outside. but the second set seemed to go in fine. but maybe not
