Nytro won't start after turbo install

We've been struggling with my nytro for the past few days. It's a 2011 nytro that we are installing a 270 mcx kit on. I had a guy install the headship and he adjusted the timing to powder lites specs. We also installed a boost-it in place of mcx's. So now that we have all of that in place, it will not fire. It has plenty of spark, and the plugs are wet so it's getting fuel. We have the fuel regulator set at just below 50 psi. We thought it the motor spun to easy by hand compared to our other turboed nytro's, so we pulled the valve cover and checked the timing marks compared to tdc and the powder lites jig and it's right on. When the motor is cranking or even just turned off its throwing no codes.

As of right now we don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

No start

Maybe start with new plugs make sure it's not flooded. Make sure gap is set properly. Do a compression test while they are out this will confirm the timing is correct expect it to be a little low due to the head shim.
Good luck

yes change plugs fuel pressure should be at about 42-44lbs did it fire at all when first starting.

Had a similar problem when I did mine and caught it before i tried to start it. I had the timing off. I can't remember what it was excatly but I can remember somthing about the oil feed holes were incorrect compared to the gear orientation on the cam itself. As said above a compression check will tell you alot. Good luck. I will check my directions to see if I can spark my memory.

leak down test

I am working on this sled and would it matter if I did a leak down test compared a compression test

will it start if you give it a bit of throttle. I know if there is a vacuum leak you have to hold the throttle open a bit to get it to start.

Wiring? Ground? In the end it will prob be something simple the trick is finding it.

08nytromtxa, I believe in this situation a regular compression test would be the way to go this will tell you if your valves are opening and closing correctly. The leak down might tell you that if you know if you are on a compression stroke or not. I hope this helps.

compression test

ok i did this on mine last year i have a powderlites headshim and i cant remember what the compression was but the mcx should be a bit higher because or the thinner shim anyone kno what compression should be around.

So just as an update, I put everything back together and triple checked all the connections and turned fuel pressure down to 44. Now with a fresh set of plugs I can get one hell of a back fire when it first cranks over then nothing. Thistledoo called me and told me to check the two wire plug coming up past the charge tube so I'm going to pull the charge tube out now and check that whole wire for imperfections. If I unplug that connection and try it I get a code 12, then when I plug it back in and try it again I get a backfire. I don't have a compression tester yet but I'll try this until I do get one.

Well this is a horrible comparison but it's the best I could get at 1 am... I borrowed a buddy's Mac compression tester and his fittings were to big to fit into the spark plug holes so I took the one off of the leak down tester. #1 was at 15#s, #2 was at 15#s, and number 3 was at 8#s. I checked this against my stock rx1 using the same fittings and it was at 60 lbs.

I won't have time to look at it now till next week, but the plan is to double check valve clearances and the cams. I'll let you guys know how we make out.
