Nytro RTX or MTX to conver to a 144"x16"?

I was hoping to build up a Nytro MTX turbo over the summer, but now I'm thinking that I should hold off on that, and build a sled that is probably more realistic for my needs. (Please dont tell my girlfriend that I'm thinking this way)

I'd like to have a 144 x 16" track underneath with 2.25" or 2.5" paddles. I want to get the sled as light as possible, so I'm thinking the Timbersled suspension for it.

I know that I'll also probably re-gear to 19/40 or 18/40, I'll add better front shocks (floats?), extrovert drivers are likely, and a clutch kit will be added. New skis are likely also.

So, my big question is whether it is better (ie. cheaper) to start with a Nytro RTX or MTX... I know the XTX is coming out next year, but I dont feel like waiting and except for the rails, most of the same changes would occur. Does the RTX have room for a 2.5" track, or would a simple change to smaller extrovert drivers be enough? The RTX has the floats on it, so I wouldn't have to buy them seperately.

What do you guys think?

MTX. It already has 3" pitch drivers and you could just bolt on 144 Ice Age rails and go. I put a 144x16x2.5 on my MTX. It's tight and takes some work but it does fit.

That is what I am in the process of right now!!! I have an '08 RTX, I got extensions from Wildchild that use 8" rear wheels, re located the skid down and back, got a tunnel extension from Hartman, Inc., and put 8 tooth anti ratchet drivers on. I am figuring out the clutching/gearing thing right now. Let me know if you want to know what I find for clutching.

On another note, I ended up drilling out a bunch of my rivets and re-installing solid hardened flush rivets from the inside out along with some structual aircraft screws and nuts. Makes the inside of the tunnel completely flat where the track goes by. No more rubbing :D Probably not an issue with the stock skid but my Expert-X has enough sideplay it was causing the track to rub occasionally.

I'm going to put a 144 under my RTX....Got a ZX2 suspension from AD Boivin, just waiting on some parts from Hartman...I went with the RTX, because it has better shocks, and handles better out of the box then the MTX...

I just need a set of better boards for it, cause the running boards get ICY and slippery...
