I'm selling my XP and buying a new 08' nytro leftover from last year. Should I spend the extra $1,100 and buy a 09'. What should I do as far as exhaust? Should I buy a can(silencer) or a full exhaust, and what kind should I get ? Thanks

i hope you plan on a turbo coming from a xp or you will be disappointed:eek:

is it that much of a difference? Will I not be able to hang with my friends on XP's and get to the same areas we ride inn

I had a xp in the early 08 season then traded for the nytro trust me stock nytro will NOT hang with a stock xp in the steep and deep. It is not a useless sled it holds it's own it will get you in to areas that your buddys are it just will not climb with them. But i did find that the nytro was funner to boondock and srew around then the xp. The nytro turbo will just plan make a xp look stupid not even close to the same deep and steep. I would not have bought a nytro if i was not going to turbo it. But maybe you are into reilablty then you have made the right choice.

I'm in alaska and we only ride in the deep in the steep. I'm into climbing and jumping, and love my xp, but I'm tired of dealing with all of the **** that goes with it. I have tons of money in clutching and aftermarkets on it, I hate my dealer too. I think eventually I would like to turbo, but not for a year or two. now you got me worried not to buy one. I know I can't out climb the xp, but I still want to be in the same areas.

You will get into all the areas just fine. I got into Squirrel Flats when they had over 3 ft. of fresh snow and that last climb is gnarly. You won't highmark anyone but you won't get left behind anywhere.

pretty typical responses from people, but you will hang just fine with your XP buddies...

would suggest gearing down first (I went to 19t top), the exhaust is a big issue for 2 strokes but not so big on 4's would be more encouraging of you to do somehting about the rear skid..personal preference is Timbersled, it makes a HUGE difference in deep snow...by far IMHO the best improvement on this sled, and it sheds nearly 40 lbs. (38 measured to be exact)

dont bother worrying about clutching till your at around 500 miles...

otherwise ride it like you stole it, you will love it!!!

I am with MTdream, gear it down, and change the skid when you can. I would put a new silencer on it to save some #'s as well. I put a supertrap muffler on mine last year and think it cleaned up the fuel delivery a bit, but it is probably all in my head. The Nytro has a sneaky sort of power, it may not set the high mark, but it seems to keep pulling a lot longer than you expect when on the hill. It will surprise you with how much fun you have on it. On paper it should be a total looser, it is heavier and has less HP than an XP, but it is the sled for me.

I think the total issue there is the difference in the torque curve...the torque curve on the 2 strokers is more like a hockey stick and the torque curve on a 4st is a more linear path...i.e. you can drop LOTS of RPM's and still be within 75+% of the peak torque...

Nikolai, MTdream and Stlhead are dead on, I would suggest going with a camo extreme or the new Cat track the powderclaw or flip the Maverick around for our AK types of snow.
