Nytro overheating

I bought a nytro xtx this year and am continuously having overheating problems. I have been riding in what i consider to be good conditions with about a foot of fresh snow with all types of other machines like cats and ski-doos but I am the only one getting the overheating problems. My problem only occurs at lower speeds like when im in a tight trail. Its fine at higher speeds even if there is very little fresh snow. Im getting very frustrated with it and even thinking about selling it if I cant find a solution. Any ideas of why im over heating and everybody else is not?? is this a common problem?? any solutions?

I had the same issue, mainly with low speed boondocking through tight trees.
I installed a tunnel cooler off of a Nytro MTX and it solved the problem.

I bought a take-off cooler from a sled shop that does custom tunnels and they no longer use the stock MTX tunnel cooler. Then bought the MTX hoses from my Yamaha dealer. Sometimes you can find the pieces required in the swap meet section as well.
Yamaha does make a MTX cooler kit that comes with all the hoses, etc also.

Might sound dumb, but after a day of cattail bashing mine was overheating as well, when I opened the hood section over the headlight, my rad was completely plugged solid with the fluff from the cattails (bullrushes). Gave her a pass with the shop-vac and it was good as new. Gonna figure out some tight mesh screens to eliminate that problem for next year.

I have 2 of those MTX coolers here if you are needing one. It would be a bolt on for you and likely solve your problem. PM me if you are interested and maybe we can make a deal.

i rode with a guy who had an mtx that overheated. it turned out there was ice in front of the little vent under the head light. so if you have it taped off that might be it!

We have the same issue with our MTX, overheating when going slow through tight trees. Found the Skinz hood helped out alot with this issue. It allows underhood heat to escape out the top.

Sounds like not enough air flow,my wifes 09 nytro does the same thing if she is going to slow.

I had an overheating problem and heard (probably here) that Yamaha uses mostly antifreeze not much water in the radiator. I drained a bit added distilled water and the problem has not resurfaced. If it comes back I am going to use some water wetter and see how that goes. Give it a try.

X2. Check your coolant with an antifreeze tester. As for getting heat out of the engine compartment....see pics.
