Nytro Oil Tank Repair / Nerf Bar *pics*

Well, 2nd round on my oil tank, it appears my original jb weld fix didn't hold 100% and broke/cracked again, this time the jb weld appears to have just worked loose from the tank itself.

Sooo, we filed / roughed things up again, and applied a few more coats of jb weld.

AND, added the slick nerf bar around the tank. It should stop the side panel from laying on the oil tank all together, the weight will instead be applied to the "nerf bar" (as we titled it) and hopefully will stop this issue from reoccuring all together. :)

I was pretty luck when mine broke. I was riding and someone behind me saw oil pouring out. I emptied a gatorade bottle and saved as much oil as I could. Cleaned up the bottom of the tank with gas and put water weld on it. It still leaked a little but slow. Limped it back to the truck with 2 quarts in it and lost almost a quart on the way out. What a PIA. Not sure why Yamaha hasn't beefed them up.

/agree

I think because most people / riders don't understand how, or why a snowmobile would be on its side or be rolled/laying on its side. Thus...how could it possibly be an issue. :P

But even if this issue is limited a very minor populous, it really would be wise to resolve this for the possible damage it can do..and as easy as it would be to fix, i see no reason for it.

/shrug I guess till then the 'very minor populous' comes up with their own fixes as they always have in the past...

They're the same. I decided to just keep mine and beef it up instead of waiting for a new tank mid season. I have my doubts as to whether or not they'll warrant a tank with JB Weld on it.

Its great that yamaha is standing behind them but that still does not solve the possible blown motor lost day of riding. I am going to have fastrax build me a real one next month.
