nytro mtx reverse issues?

Anyone have any issues with there reverse on their nytro mtx? While I really like the reverse ability, it seems the mechanical reverse can be a little sketchy at times. Sometimes I can't get the reverse to engage on uneven/sloped ground. I think there might be tension on the chain keeping the reverse mechanism from working correctly. I also found that sometimes when going from reverse to forwards that if it doesn't disengage quickly, it will spin a little before it catches. I don't have the manual yet so I am not sure what is all in there.

Just curious if anyone has experienced the same issue or is it just me?

exact same issues here....seems to work ok in the parking lot....but I never did get it to work at all up on the hill....tried numerous times with no luck. THe handle is way to small also....my apex one worked fine and no this....

Only other issue I had was my skidplate packed full of ice....like hung down 4 inches....ad to take it off.

mine sticks some times too. Thats not the worst though id say 2/3 times its jumps out of reverse when backing out of the trailer . I found that if it wont go in reverse and you NEED it to just turn off the machine put in in reverse and start it up again .Pain in the a$$ but works for me .

I've had a couple instances where it would not go into reverse. All I did was rock the sled backwards by pulling on the bars and throwing my body weight back. It then goes right in. It just needs the tension taken out for the gear to engage.

Same here - I have used it 2 or 3 times and only had to rock the sled as above once and that was on pretty uneven, sloped ground.

also one thing i found is to look through the right side panel vents near your knees when using the reverse. you can see that the lever needs to be pulled back, pulled up (or down depending on wether you are going forward or reverse). and pushed forward into position. you may have to rock the sled forward and back to get the proper gear mesh at times. ski

I was having similar problems my first time out. Seems like theres a sweet spot and I wasn't having much probs the second time out shifting it in and out. Like skidooboyedk said, look through the vents and check the plate.

Thanks for all the tips. I will have to keep these in mind when I go out next. I guess I just have 2 stroke rer/perc envy. It sure was nice on the rev.

Had a closer look at mine last night....the linkage where it goes into the chaincase actually hits the aluminum foot rest down at the bottom. I think this is causing some binding for sure...so I bent the foot rest ahead a touch so it clears. Also when there is a ton of ice built up down there maybe it is pushing that ahead abit.....All I know is its not near as easy or nice to use as my apex....some mods will be in the works.

I just bought a new Nytro and at the dealership they told me if I ever had trouble getting it in reverse, blip the throttle and once it idles back down try again. It's worked every time for me.
