Nytro MTX clutching 5500-8500 ft..

No clue on where to start on these Yamaha clutches so any help would be great. Got 400 miles on her and on a long up hill pull she turns 8300-8400 in the powder. Ride from 5500 to 8500 ft. Where do I start or is this the way its going to be??

your not down that many rpms. leave it till you have at least 1000 miles on her. she'll break in alittle more and you'll be where you need to be. 85-8600 is optimum for the peak hp but the peak torque is in the high 7000 range. ive been using the rule of thumb close to 9000 on trail, gives you approx 8500 in the steep and deep.

list your current set up spring, rivets in arms, helix, secondary spring ect... if you need a few more rpms go to the next stiffer primary spring. if you have the green white green primary in now, go to the orange silver orange. if you have the blue brown blue, go to the green white green.

need more info to help. ski

Well thats an easy question to answer. No clutching changes have been made from the oem high altitude setup.

Go buy a Shockwave adjustable secondary, that way you can set your rpm to what ever you want. I would run it at around 88 to 8900 RPM that is what my dealer tod me, and he knows his sh*t!

I've been thinking of putting a team secondary on my nytro. Has anyone tried one or heard if Hartman has got them dialed in? I've had them on a couple modded vipers and loved them.

from what i have witnessed at elevation with the two mtx's i have, and if it in fact has no changes from the factory (check your primary arms if there are rivets in the arms the dealer changed it for there elevation spec), throw a orange silver orange primary spring in, and a white secondary at 70-80* wrap and go test again. but like i said before, you arent that far off at all. once the sled has fully broken in you should be ok.

also food for thought, adjust the peak rpms via the primary, adjust the upshift and backshift with the secondary. if you use the secondary to adjust your rpms you are only robbing peter to pay paul. meaning you will give up something somewhere on the power curve to get your peak rpms by adjusting with the secondary helix. ski

i just asked my local dealer that same question.. and the spec book says 8500 - 9000 for the rpm. thats got a bit of a window there to play wiht so its not to hard to clutch
