Nytro motor down

After two years of never letting me down, my nytro died. Half way into a climb i lost power and smoke rolling out of the engine compartment. No bangs, backfiring, or nothing, just died. It still started but ran like ****. Rolled over the primary and there s very little resistance. Probably wont know for sure till I get home but i figured I'd start fishing for possible problems.

Sounds like a possible blown head gasket or shim to me.

yup start with a compression test....be a quick check

It was oil, no antifreeze.

If it were antifreeze it would smoke white, not blue....02

well its not great news but I guess it could be worse. I pulled the motor today and the PTO cylinder is shot. Looks like when the piston let go it must have pressured up the crank case and blew out the valve cover. That's where all the oil came from.

Just curious as to how much boost you were running and what brand of fuel.

Only 15 lbs running a C12-premium blend. I talked to Paul from impulse and he said it was common to crack JE pistons if they were a 2008-2010 vintage

Any damage to cyl ?

fortunately no cylinder damage. New pistons and a port job while its ripped apart

Maybe you could just JB weld that piston. LOL. I hadn't heard that one about the JE pistons, good to know. At least you got most of the way through the season.
