Nytro, hooking up the fan to ignition

Can the fan on a turbo nytro be hooked up so it will run all the time when the key is on. I was thinking about doing this to keep it cooler under the hood. If it can where is the best place to hook up the wire. I tried it and I kept getting an engine light flashing and it would start hard. thanks

I know i read a post where someone said they did this.

Hmm..i never thought of the 'keep air circulating' thing..but i'm not sure how long I'd want to leave it running either.

wiring

I don't know if it would cause an engine light to come on but the best place to hook into would be the ignition line to the key. I hooked my Digital temp gauge into it for power and no lights came on and it comes on as soon as I turn the key.

Well I found two wires that were hot after the key was turned on, I hooked one wire off of the fan to ground (black one) and the other to one of the hot wires, one would cause it to start funny and the other would cause it to start even when the key was in the off position. Every thing would work fine after I unhooked it.

REDBULL, you need to run your fan thru a relay...the amps needed to run it may exceed what the ignition circuit can handle...most relays have 4 poles(wires) coming off them..one is switched power(ignition wire) ground(for the relay solenoid) power from light side of the stator(or battery), and the fan power wire...(to the fan)..when you turn on the ignition it turns on the relay which supplies lighting coil(or battery) power to the fan ...

Bingo. Use a relay and run the fan right off the battery.

Sounds good, where do I get a relay like your talking about, I guess I can go to an automotive parts store and ask for a 4 pole relay, rite????

ground the switch wire on the factory relay, cant remember the colour but it runs to the ecu to switch the relay on. if you just ground it to the frame of the sled the fan will run whenever the sled is on.

That is what I want it to do is run all the time while the sled is running. I will have a fuse I can pull if I dont want it to run while the key is on and not running.
