How do i get this thing to go back in after taking the fuel pump out. Looks to me like I need to order a new one.

Seems I remember someone saying if you put it in the freezer it will shrink it, or does that really work.

Thanks,

Kirk

anytime you take it off, it is going to expand....you can buy new o-rings at hardware store...I tried the freezing thing, and it didnt work...

No not for trail tank, just putting turbo on and eliminating the stock fuel pump. The o-ring is different than a normal one, can you use a normal o-ring?

Thanks

I just went down to hardware store in plumbing section and bought one...it is doing just fine...200+ miles on mine, and no issues...tank was drained over summer, and never had an issue...

when you take in expanded ring, I purchased the one a size too small, and the next size up, and got both to work, cannot remember which one worked best....had to do the same thing on the fuel gauge one...

You should replace it if possible. The best thing I have found is to dry it really well and let it sit out for about 24 hours to dry. It will shrink. I have not tried the hardware store, but if this is possible it would be your best bet.

Hopefully you wont have an issue, but hardware store O rings are not made for fuel. Fuel O rings are Nitrile, designed for contact with petro products.

I went through this with a fuel outlet grommet and it took about 1/2 season to fail, but it did fail. They turn soft and eventually will split.

You might want to check on it now before the snow comes.

Hope this helps.

will do, especially since the sled is apart and fuel is empty...appreciate the input...

I was gonna say the same....special o rings for gas.....dont wanna have a fuel spray onto say the exhaust header....you'll be calling your insurance agent:eek:

I put 4 dabs of thin ca (krazy glue) on the tank base and stuck in the swelled o ring. Stuck down enough to get the plate on. This was a 1am fix.
1800k no issue yet

after sitting around for a day or two it did shrink down and after reading you guy's posts I went out and it went right in. Glad I didn't get pi$$ed off like usual and throw it somewhere I couldn't find it LOL

Thanks guys
