Nytro Engine Break In

I'm sure this has been covered but I couldn't find anything with the search function. Considering a Nytro and have heard a few different opinions on what is neccessary. How are you guys breaking them in stock? How many miles until its safe(or a good idea) to put the turbo on?

Tyler

You can ride it with the turbo on from day one if you want. Break the motor in the same way you're going to ride it for the rest of it's life.

The break in period on any engine is the most important part of the engines life. To break it in prior to the turbo is what I have chosen to do. I have no documentation to support my point of view.
A turbo on a new engine (that is not designed for one) is further stress to the machine.

My two cents

If you ride it the way yamaha wants you to you wont be getting into any deep snow for a while, keeping it under 6000 rpm is really tuff to do. I have heard the the engine creates more heat when it is new and that is the reason for keeping rpms down. I turboed mine at 180 miles and mine has never overhheated.

it is retarded if anything. 6k rpm was like 30 mph on my sled. I would be riding by myself.

I broke mine in with a couple of heat cycles, then went out and rode it. Didn't hold the throttle wide open for more than a couple of full seconds till I got 150 miles on it. After that, I have just been riding the thing.
