Nytro died?? This reminds me of my Skidoo's

Just bought an 08 Nytro (Has warranty) and have been working on a tunel and skid. went to start it two days ago and it sounds like it's missing a cylinder. Have to give her half throttle just to get it to idle real rough, then it instantly dies when I let off the throttle??? I haven't touched one wire on thhis sled yet? I checked for spark on all three coils and everything is fine. Also pulled the plugs, they are all wet. I dried them off and spun the engine. put it back together and same thing, won't run. Man I thought I'd be away from crap like this with a yammy. I'm quite capable of daignosing and repairing it with time in my shop. But it is warrantied. If it's a quick fix I'd do it. Anybody have this problem or know what is going on? It ran fine the day before. Seems like it is gettign to much fuel.. Just a guess thx in advance..

Dave.

I heard Yammies don't break! Are you getting spark? I ride with two different nytros and we had to by-pass the kill switch on both of them. Thats the easy and cheap part, wait till you start replacing the A- arms and spindles.

put a NEW set of plugs in, Four strokes will flood easily if you start them and let them run for just a few seconds multiple times. And you didnt install a handlebar riser also? Some times if the throttle cable is to tight it will trip the TORS system.

Digger

I do have spark, why did you have to bypass the kill switch?

AK

I do have a riser bar and the throttle could be tight I will check, What is the TORS System??

Thx guys..

Throttle Over Ride System, if I remember right.

In the event that the throttle bodies ( or carbs ) stay open after the thumb handle is released, It will activate the TORS. Designed to prevent the sled taking off on you in the event of a stuck throttle condition.

It will however, act up if the throttle cable is too tight. There needs to be a small amount of slack in the cable. There is a good post on TY about it, but their site appears to be down right now.

shouldnt be tors it should idle fine just wont let it above 2800rpm or so.change plugs.its not throwing any codes on the gauge is it.

no codes are being displayed, and it has fuel and fire? I will change the plugs I stock lots of the 9E for the sportbikes, so I have them instock..

Have you checked the TPS sensor? The sled has a diagnostic mode so its easy to check. Should reed 15 up to 95

my money is on the tps also. check for water in the connector. go to diagnostics and check values. if the tps fails it sets to full rich wont run at idle and barely at 3/4 throttle.

I would guess she is going into limp mode and going rich to protect the motor. Run the diagnostic code check. I had the exact same issue and simply changed the pulgs and it worked fine. With these 4 strokes do not fire them up then turn them off redeatedly, they don't like it. Let it run for a couple minutes before turning it off.

If the plugs don't work go into diagnostic mode. Pages 7-4 through 7-27 tell you how to get in there and then how to test the sensors.

They do tend to get wet when fired up for short durations. I flooded my APex this past winter @ -30C.

My Apex also tends to idle rough when it's warm out, until it warms up. Give it a good heat soak and it'll be fine I'm sure. Maybe the map is rich at temps above 0C?

I have not changed the plugs on mine yet (4500kms) even after flooding it. Runs like a top!

One kill switch just plain shut the sled down. The other one would do like yours is doing. We could not get it to run enough to get it back to the trailer. We unplugged the switch and put a jump wire in. We had no codes.

so I just got back into town last night and put in new plugs, and it fired up.. Never seen this type of plug go bad instantly before. We have seen other types just pack in but never these. anyway it appears to run good now, thx for the ideas.. at least if I have an issue later these are good points to remember, cheers.:beer;

I had two sets of plugs go bad before, original ones and the spare set.. Third set it fired right up, all of the bad ones had spark also, they must not have been firing under compression... Damdest thing I'd ever seen, this was on my Viper. I hate to see anyone compare a Yammie with a Doo....
