Nytro Anti-Ratchet Sprockets

So, looks like on my last ride of the season I trashed my Anti-Ratchet Sprockets by running a mile or two through the volcanic ash up at Island Park.

Where there was snow in the morning at the beginning of the trail, there was only sand when we came back.

So, question is, what the best Upgrade / Replacement out there??

I have a set of Avids on my boosted Nytro and I have had em on there for over 1400 miles and besides the browning from the exhaust downpipe off my turbo they look just as good as the day I bought em. They are all I will use.

I'm running avids as well. I know some run the Wahl drivers but ive heard both good and bad about them so i just bucked up and spent the little extra coin on the avids and don't have a single complaint.

Here's the link to his site.

I will say that if you do change out to aftermarket drivers or even a new set of stockers be sure to get them alignment perfectly centered in the track windows. I've seen a set of drivers wear out and start to ratchet in a couple hundred miles because they were put in on a rush and not aligned perfectly. On these fully clipped tracks they will wear out quick once you get an edge cut and grooved. They will start to mushroom quick.

Great site with a WEALTH of information about Drivers, Wheels and Gearing.

MANY THANKS for pointing me towards them.

If I read their material correctly, looks like I might as well replace my Wheels while I am at it, and upgrade to a 9 inch "Big Wheel" kit to maximize available performance. ??

Question.

For the Nytro.

How Many Drive Points (Lugs), 7 or 8 ??

Which drive shaft size?
1.00"
1.0652"
1.125"
1.25"

Chris you NEED Avid 7 tooth 3.0" pitch. there is a set for sale in the swapmeet I have been eyeing up

Does anyone have the measurements for the avids with the shaft out of the machine. My stockers spun on the shaft, I wont be able to get an accurate measurement off of stockers.

Thanks

Drivers ordered.
Man, these don't come cheap.
Hope they last longer than my OEM ones did.

But then I suppose its asking a LOT of a driver to stand up to riding on volcanic sand...

My new AVID Drivers arrived!

Looks like I have yet another project to get done in the next week or two.

I'm also looking for the measurements. I think I remember hearing they are suppose to be installed closer to the inside of the windows rather then the center or outside. Anyone else hear this? I have Avids all back together but the CE track will not stay centered on the drivers. When I spin the track the track moves to one side. Ajusting the rear axle will not change the front alignment issue. I may need to move the drivers over a bit. Can anyone give me the measurements inside the tunnel? Thanks

Yamaha has changed the length of the driveshaft several times over the years. The safest way to setup the drivers is to measure from the clutch side of the driveshaft.

From the clutch side of the driveshaft to the center of the driver should be 4-7/8" (this measurement will only work for the standard style extroverts, not the "Powerclaw" recommended extrovert drivers from Avid). Then from the center of the driver to the center of the next driver is 8-7/8".
