September 13th - 14th 2008 Tree Trimming and Road Clean-Up
Tree Canopy trimming and the fall road clean-up party will take place in September on FS roads #12 and #13 to Schrieber's meadow. We will be camping 2 nights in the parking at the Blue Lake "Y" with a large campfire. This is a major annual event and we really could use a strong club member turnout. We spend a large portion of the clubs budget on equipment rentals etc... This trimming is what allows the snow to fall down to the road in the switchback areas up to the meadow. Without this event, we'd all be forced to ride a ridiculous amount of gravel just to get back on the groomed route. Groups to clean 4 miles of Baker Lake Hwy and fan out to hit the roads to Anderson and Schreibers/Blue Lake.

Note that the canopy trimming is on the 13th and 14th of September. It is a good time, and a way to give back to the NWGC for the plowing and snow removal that was done last year. In addition to the tree trimming, we will also be doing road clean-up at the same time. Any extra help is appreciated and can be used. I Hope to see you there!

Let me know if you have any questions or would like things to be changed with the NWGC website... It is a work in progress.

For those that wonder what it takes to clear the trees canopy and allow the snow to get to the road so we don't have to ride the gravel through the switchbacks, Here is a pic from last year:

I would say things start around 8 am. on Saturday. I think we are on our own for lunch, ie brown bag it.

I will be there Friday night - Sunday sometime..

We need to get a head count from people in snowest land. The Prez needs to know how many juicy steaks to get. It would be nice to get an accurate number by Wednesday evening. So if you are going to go, please post and tell how many are in your crew.

I am in for 1.....

Guess that means coffee (or tea in your case) 0800-0900.

I'm supposed to be in 5 different places this saturday. I scrapped 3 of them - Baker is second to family. Family crap  has to be done in Seattle 0830-0930. I should be at Baker by noon. :)
