There will also be several skier/snowboarder/snowmobiler avalanche classes in the Flathead with field days on the backside of Big Mountain. Keep watching the Glacier Country Avalanche Center's events page for more updated details as we get closer.

I'll be at the snowmobiler classes along with a couple general assembly days. Check the event calendar out here:

$350 per person,,,, why soooo much???

From what I've read this is some serious avalanche training. I'm not sure if this is for beginners or if this is an advanced class. I'm sure if they are charging you are getting some pretty special attention/training.

Level 1 is much more detailed than your average avy awareness class. Teaches you that there is a lot more to be concerned with besides just having proper gear (beacon, shovel, probe, on your back not your sled!), and that there is much more to getting in a slide than luck. EVERY backcountry sledder should take a level 1, at least. 350 is a bargain for gaining the knowledge to keep yourself alive.
