not running rave caps on 800r

I have seen tonnes of pics with people not running the caps and springs on their exhaust valves. What is the idea behind that and how are people liking it? They would be open all the time.

3d rave valves on the 800r do not have springs under the caps like the older raves. They work off vaccume/pressure inside the bellows. The caps are not necessary.

So why do people not run them?

The springs are inside the bellows. The caps are probably just there for looks and/or protection for the bellows.

Run them.....I would think they would protect things from y-pipe heat, moisture, damage etc... No reason not to.

My 08 XP does not have the little red Rave caps. Everything is enclosed and automatic now. No need for the adjustable ones anymore.
