Not enough belt travel?

I marked the clutches last winter to see how far the belt traveled. It looks fine in the secondary, but the belt doesn't look like it travels very far up in the primary. Should it, and what should I be looking to change to get it there?

I usually have mixed road/tree/ditch type riding with minimal straight up chute type riding. I did get the rpm's in the 8200-8300 with a few blips to 8500 at lower elevations.

Thanks

The ring halfway up on the primary make me wonder if your getting some belt slip.
Check the engine mounts, especially the one in front of the engine, clutch side. My dragon broke the bolt through this mount. Looked fine, but bolt was broken inside. This allowed the engine to torque back under load.

I would think you would have to get gowing fast to get your belt to ride up higher than that.
60 mph + depending on gearing.
What is your top average speed.
Eather that thing takes a lot of load in the 40-60 mph range or its slipping.
I had my left front motor mount bolt brake and clutch slip too.
Than it broke my right motor mount plate in half.

Thanks.

I've got some base gaskets waiting for me so I'll check the motor mount bolts when I get the cylinders lifted off.

Not sure exactly what the top speed is on this sled. I know it isn't that fast as my old Edge 700/144 that I sold to my brother-in-law is faster (he is probably 75# lighter though).

I would start with making sure all clutch parts are in good working order. Then put sled up on a stand and run the track to wot and watch the belt. It should go through a full range from bottom to top. Now under load things might change. Make sure your springs are in spec on both primary and secondary.
Is the belt you are running correct? I know some of the questions may seem simple however you might be suppressed what we see come to our shop.
I have seen them come in with no rollers left and a broken spring. Yes it was still moving. That's what we call getting 100% value out of your parts. Hope some of this is helpful. Feel free to give us a call if we can help in any way.
