Nose cone foam?

What is the purpose of the foam inside the nose cone assembly? (‘16 axys)

I smashed up the front end a bit today and ripped the foam out near the pipe as it was dangling and I didn’t want to catch on fire.

Should I replace it when I put sled back together or not?

Absolutely. The EPA will find out and they WILL FIND YOU. That sled no longer passes sound regulations and could potentially hurt someones feelings.

....but no you are good to go, the foam’s only purpose is to keep the sled quieter for EPA testing procedures. You just saved an ounce of weight. Crank up the rear shock a turn or two or your sled will turn into a wheelie machine.

I removed ALL the engine compartment foam on my 850,.. 1/4 of it wasn't sticking very well after the first ride anyways so what the hell.

Random bit of useless info. Had a deep day on Sunday, myself on the 850 and good buddy on an 800. Whenever we'd stop mine would melt the snow off the hood, his wouldn't. Only difference being I pulled all the foam underneath and he hadn't
