Nordegg and Rocky??

A friend of mine went riding west of Jackfish lake off highway 11 on Sunday. Said theres a decent amount of snow to ride a few cutlines/ditches. about 2 feet of snow with some fresh on top. A lot more than we have around Red Deer thats for sure.

Probably a little early to get into Ranger, sugar bowl or any of those areas though.

Cheers,

Rob

Yeah, you may be pushing the envelope a bit. There are a lot of land mines out there yet. you need a base of snow, powder may not be that friendly, but unless you go and see you never know, usually jan is about as early as you can go. Check out the forestry fluz zone map for time you can sled west of the forest trunk road.

thanx for the info ! I'm looking at going out in the middle of Jan so hopefully it keeps snowing like this until then - Stace

Anybody else with any experience out there?

It will be nice when there is enough snow out there because Golden and Revy are a bit of a drive for a day trip. We did a day trip to Golden, left Red Deer @ 4am and got back @ 10pm. Got about 4 hours of riding in @ Quartz. Good day but long.

Has anyone been up to Onion lake? where might one stage and ride to? We might try going this weekend but we have never been up in that area. Hear it is nice. Any advice instruction is welcome.

Would be nice if we had some snow on our side. I havent been in our west country forever......NO SNOW!

onion/hummingbird

went to onion/hummingbird on the 5 jan. trail in was not bad, could use a little more snow, as rocks are laying in wait. good snow in the trees, although a few stumps hidden under the snow. Snow still has no base, but with a little more snow should be good.

Was out at the hummingbird today, there is not much for snow. I wouldnt recommend taking your news sleds out there, thats what Alberta Special sleds are for! Quite a few rocks and wind swept pretty bad out there.

Ya...we were there too. Looks like there might have been snow a few days ago, but shes all blown away now. Oh well.....excuse for a trail ride and get out of the house.

Was out round the hummingbird for the second weekend in the row, and what little snow that was out there that wasnt windswept is melting now. Not worth the abuse to the sled or rider. The way the weather is looking it might be a done deal out there unless there are miricles happening.
