No vents from the factory?!

Not sure if this has been discussed or not, but I'm curious why our factory panels do not come vented...

Seems like a pretty smart decision for oem panels to be vented from the factory especially considering how hot our Pro's like to run...

Interesting

Simple question, simple answer.

Curious if something as simple as a factory gauge lifter and small vent placed low on each side panel would still make to much noise?

I'm personally just going with the gauge lift and shock tower/clutch vent in hopes that a lot of heat will be pulled out thru the gauge lifter.

IMO You don't need them. My sled ran 125 most of the time, with vents and without them. 90% mountain riding. Now scratchers are another story.:face-icon-small-coo

I agree with Pro. In any kind of fun snow my sled ran dead on at 127. No matter how hard I ran it. Now I had a gauge lifter with that vent at the top but the hood has a lot of vented area stock. The only time I see how I want more venting is a lot of really slow full throttle pulls in deep snow and then you would need a fan to move air because you aren't moving fast enough to get air flow.

Ya, I've gotta run my scratchers all the time unless it's deep snow

My thought behind this is we shouldn't have to run our scratchers all the time....

With that, it's probably not a bad thing to have the scratchers down to save hyfax's

Venting is not to reduce the coolant temp of the sled... more to reduce the under-hood temps that place extra load on the clutching/belts/electrical etc.

In the long run, this may have a SMALL effect on the engine temps... but that is moe dependent, IMO, on the cooling system.

Pretty much took the words out of my mouth.

We actually did a little comparison last year on three sleds. No vents, some venting and one with a bunch of venting. Now obviously the sleds were not identical but they were close.

Ran the sleds in the same areas for the same amount of time, stopped and checked the clutches on each and you could tell the difference on the three. The one with the most venting was obviously cooler.

By the way, later that day the non vented one, blew a belt.

When it comes down to it, it can't hurt so why not.
