no start - 0 fuel pressure...

ok this is the second time this has happend to me, i go for a ride, next day go to start the sled and no start, 0 fuel pressure, the last time this happend i put it inside a warm shop for 30 mins and it fired right up, now since the last time this happend i put dielectric grease on every connection under the hood,

anybody know what causes this, i think there has been others on here that have had this problem... starting to pee me off, what happens if its 100 miles from nowhere,

im going out to put a blow dryer under the hood now...

I had this same issue with my 06 rmk. I know its not the same sled but im sure the design is the same. They rely on risidual pressure from the last time the sled was ran to start agian. The motor has to produce 750 rpm before the stator produces enough juice to power the fuel pump. There are a couple of one way check valves inside the tank. Once these weaken (usually due to sitting for prolonged periods of time out of fuel) i.e. if your tank was empty when you stored it for the summer. They slowly bleed off causing loss of fuel pressure. On my RMK there is a fuel prime plug near the steering columb that if you connect to 12 volts it will re-prime the system. I will look at mine tonight and see if I can't locate the prime plug. I would contact your dealer and ask them if they know of a fuel pump prime plug. They sell little batteries that you can carry on your sled to plug into these adaptors that will prime your pump on the mountain.

You might have some water in your gas and it freezes over night and cause the fuel pump to freeze as well. Try running some ISO heat in your fuel. Had the same problem with my dads 09 M Arctic Cat. It ran great all day then went to start it the next day and nothing for fuel. Put it in the shop and started on first pull after a few minutes in the heated shop. Good luck...

Happened a few times to my 05 M7 when it was left outside on cold nights. If I put a bottle of isopropyl alcohol in it the day before I never had a problem. If I had this problem, warming the sled helped. When it was left out I made a habit of starting the sled in my driveway before driving to the trailhead. If it wouldnt start, I would put a small heater under the hood, go inside and have a coffee, and it would be thawed and good to go. I am pretty sure it was caused by having some water in the gas that would freeze and cause a blockage.

It really sounds like water? It could be your fuel pump is shoot to. Pull your gas line off that comes out of the gas tank and you should have gas coming out of that little nipple when you pull it over...will it always start in the heated shop?

its running now, i have a fuel pressure gauge so it had 0 fuel, its has only happend twice now after sitting overnight, and i use gas line antifreeze quite regular to prevent this sorta thing...

Inside the fuel tank (at least on mine '05 M7, but I think it is the same), there are 3 fuel "pick-ups" that have a screen around them to act as a filter for the gas before it goes into the fuel pump. Mine did the exact same thing you're saying and I found those screens were plugged. I cleaned them off, and haven't had a problem since. The pump can't pump gas if it can't get any fuel past the plugged screens. Just something to check.

those filters ie smart valves are also supposed to block water from entering the fuel system.

You can put a 9v battery to the wires coming off the tank and see what happens, if your F/P moves anyway. If the kill switch or key switch isn't working right it could cause it too, and if you turn both of them to the position in witch the sled would not run the headlights still try to come on.

I think its water.

ttt

have you did the 15 min check for fuel pressure drop. if you have pressure at stop and it runs well and in morning you have o well you have leak down. mine will hold 30 for ever!
