No Snow Again In California

I am glad I sold my sled, because it is pathetic here in California for snow. Right now, the Mt Shasta area is 30" below normal rainfall. We have only had 10" of rain since January. Mountains are bare, lakes almost dry, pathetic. Above us in Oregon and Washington they are getting some but here in Northern California zip. The rest of the country looks pretty good. Pray for rain but it does not look good.:face-icon-small-fro

snow

I didn't sell my sled .But I did buy a Harley so guess all my cash will go in that gas tank,(when it warms up) as we don't have much snow here in Id.

Yep. The 2013 Calander year is going to be the dryest on record for good ole northern Ca. Aren't we lucky to be living in history!

The boys have been riding Blue Lakes, but I think they have been riding with mother luck on their side. Some one, not long ago, called it Dealer Snow.

Man you live in the wrong place for sledding! almost 400 miles so far and only the first 40 was trail ride. Have seen a few a arms, some track lugs, and heat exchangers taken out but thats the price to play before christmas.

"Glad you sold your sled, because you live in northern??"

Thats a ridiculous statement, how many miles or good rides have you had before christmas in northern california?? Iv lived there my whole life (2000- 2500 miles a season) and if you want any rides worth a darn before christmas you got to drive and i mean either Tahoe or out of state. If you love sledding then its worth it, summer is too long not to load up and drive a few hours to get some good early season rides in! doesn't matter how slow the season starts we always get snow at some point here!

Colorado has some of the best early season snow in years. The last five or so were so thin you couldn't safely ride until Feb. This year, I bought new ride and the snow gods have smiled on us. I am closing in on 200 miles before the first!

I never assume snow until mid Jan, when it comes early, it is a blessing.

I am also happy I have sold all my sleds this is the worst start to winter in as long as I can remember there is a statement above that you need to take a road trip to ride if you are a die hard, that may be true but still doesn't account for the fact that the sierras are way, way below normal, I did a record check yesterday of the MT Rose snotel and last year at this time there was over 100 inches of snow (and it was not a good year at all), this year there is only 17 on the snotel, with nothing insight till Mid January. Can it come yes but could it be to late possibly. One thing is for sure if it doesn't come I will be selling my boats as well. There are a lot more things riding on the snowpack besides snowmobiling that is for sure. This is the 3rd year in a row for a poor start and the lake/reservoir levels are showing it.

Hope it snows there. I've been missing my trips to the Sierras. Rode there 1 day last year and then it rained. Hope the days old old return, 14-21 day trips to the Golden State.

Relax TRS we'll get some snow! And from what I just read I'm excited, not even sweating. Looks like you'll 1 day rest in 4! I can live with that, won't even need my slip on boots.

Ted, get ready, call the boys, I'll be there as soon as the snow god blesses you with snow.:clock:

thanks for selling all your sled. Now the huge snow is about to hit, I will remind you that all your sleds are sold in 2 weeks!

Not much in Eastern Oregon either. Went to Greenhorn Sunday, had to ride the roads and could have easily driven a 4x4 on them. I've been here 55 years and can only remember one or two years with this little snow here at this time of year. It could start snowing any time but according to the weather wizards there is no appreciable amount forecast in the next 10 days.

Yep Washington blows also. This is looking like the road trip winter. As long as work cooperates.
