No more APT cast smartcarbs??

I am looking to do a smartcarb on my 2011 ktm 300xc and I noticed they don't make the cast smart carbs for $400, and they only make the billet for $675? Why is that?

I personally think they were having issues with it... whenever I see people that have had major issues it seems like they have casts.. maybe they are trying to fix something?

Yes, The first cast models have been stopped. They want Billet quality and tolerances in a cast. The only way is a true Die Cast. Those are being put in place now. As the Die cast models get the time and attention needed for production, they will produce Billet Models. I have had 100% amazing success with the Billets. They are expensive, but keep it. Don't sell it. You will have it for many years and several bikes.

I have a cast 38 for my 14 300 that I have not used yet due to lack of snow.

I have billets on both of my bikes... but I have talked to three different people that could not get them to run right and returned.... these were earlier ones though...

I ran a cast carb last year and had carb ice problems. Ran a 40 billet this year and loved it after getting right needle. Selling it and my ported cylinder and head as a combo in the snowbike swap.
